California State University, San Bernardino (Cal State San Bernardino) Nestled into the foothills of the high and rugged San Bernardino Mountains, California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a picturesque campus home to approximately 20,000 students completing coursework in 70 baccalaureate and master’s degree programs. The inland Southern California location is within an hour’s drive of beaches, deserts, and mountain ski resorts, and it is an easy jumping off point to visit popular tourist destinations like Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs, Disneyland, and the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Essential Information for Exchange Students
Admission Criteria
  • Minimum English Proficiency Score: This is determined by the Chancellor’s Office for CSUIP programs and is posted in a bulletin.
  • Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) to apply: 2.0 (based on 4.0 scale) or equivalent.

Fees
  • Campus-based fees charged to student:  A mandatory orientation fee is charged to international students. Some courses (mostly labs) have a supplies fee. Students are automatically enrolled in Coyote Day One, which provides all required course materials at a set charge per unit; students can opt out of this program and secure course materials on their own.
  • Campus health insurance charged to student: Costs are subject to change annually but are typically around $1000 per semester or $2000 for the full year.

Impacted and Restricted Subject Areas
  • Impacted subject areas which are closed to exchange students: Criminal Justice; Kinesiology, Allied Health Professions concentration; Nursing; Social Work; and Psychology. Subject to change at any time.
  • Restricted subject areas where limited places are available and are highly competitive for exchange students: Level 4000 courses in the Department of Music.
