California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is located on a scenic waterfront campus in Vallejo, CA, California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is a unique and specialized campus of the California State University system. Cal Maritime is one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States — and the only one on the West Coast.

The unique Cal Maritime program combines classroom learning with applied technology, leadership development, and global awareness. A key part of the campus experience is the annual training cruise aboard the 500-foot Training Ship Golden Bear (TSGB). The training ship serves as a floating classroom/laboratory where classroom concepts in marine transportation, engineering, and technology are practiced and applied. School-sponsored, study-abroad trips provide those studying international business, logistics, maritime security and maritime policy with a first-hand exposure to those practices in locations around the world.

Cal Maritime graduates have excellent career opportunities on land, in ports, and at sea. The University has the highest employment rate in the CSU system with starting salaries near the top of national averages. Government data consistently shows that Cal Maritime alumni have the highest average salaries of any college or university (public or private) in the western U.S.

This campus is open to a select number of exchange students with demonstrated interest in the following fields: business administration, oceanography, mechanical engineering, international strategy and security, U.S. Coast Guard licensure, logistics, marine transportation, engineering technology, management of engineering, international business, and global studies. Exchange students may also take subjects from other areas in which prerequisites have been met, subject to availability. Exchange applicants may be subject to an interview as part of the selection process.

Impacted (Closed) Subject Areas which are not available to exchange students: Cruise (CRU); Deck Labs (DL); Firefighting (FF); Naval Science (NSC).

Restricted (Limited) Subject Areas limited places are available and are highly competitive: Business. Note that this campus is restricted to students who wish to study Global Studies and International Business with demonstrated interest in maritime affairs. Applicants may be subject to an interview on Skype.
